Janine Mitchell’s is recognised as one of Australia’s foremost lettering artists, drawing her inspiration from life, nature and botanical art. Her calligraphic career commenced formally in 1994. Since then she has attended workshops with both Australian and Internationally renowned tutors in both the lettering and related arts, resulting in a well rounded skill level across all tools and major calligraphic styles. She has studied both here and overseas with world renowned tutors such as Raphael Boguslav (by correspondence), Jenny Phillips (Botanical Art), Christopher Haanes, Yves Leterme, Brody Neuenschwander, Laurent Pflughaupt, Elmo van Slingerland and many others. With a particular penchant for pointed pen, her workshops are very popular and often fill in days once advertised. Her work has been exhibited in many Australian exhibitions and some works are on permanent exhibition in the Russian Museum of Calligraphy. Janine’s current focus is on sharing her skills, doing exhibition pieces and finishing a book on pointed pen. She has only recently joined instagram and you can follow her work @alphabetique_janine.
