Description

In celebration of PILOT’s centenary milestone, PILOT is proud to present - The Japanese Seven Gods of Good Fortune, a PILOT collection of superb fountain pens created through the collective craftsmanship of the KOKKOKAI group of Maki-e artisans.

The Japanese Seven Gods of Good Fortune are a group of deities who together bring loads of prosperity, health, long life and good luck to those who recognise them. These gods are auspicious characters that are not mythical characters but historical figures. Belief in the Seven Lucky Gods dates from the end of Japan’s Muromachi period, was widespread among the people of the Edo period, and has continued into the present day.

Fuku-roku-ju was originally a Chinese Taoist god, said to be the incarnation of the South Pole star. His name comes from the three Chinese characters representing Taoism's three virtues: having many descendants (fuku), health (roku) and longevity (ju). Today, Fuku-roku-ju is worshipped as the god of popularity.

This fountain pen is adorned with an image of Fuku-roku-ju with a high-domed head, long beard and large earlobes, holding a gem in his right hand. The scene depicted shows Fuku-roku-ju expressing his gratitude for the help of his companions, a crane and a turtle, who have brought him his precious cane and scroll.

This fountain pen has an 18K gold nib in medium with no.10 size. The barrel is Yukari Vest type shape made from brass and using with Togidashi-Taka Maki-e techniques. The fountain pen uses a converter-70 and weighs 37g.

Only 150 limited pens have been produced of each design worldwide.

It comes individually packaged in an exclusive wooden box with laser engraving. Alongside with the pen, it has a matching 50ml limited edition ink, a leather pen wrap (inden), PILOT ink cartridges (6pcs in black), use and care guide, leaflet, Maki-e signature artist card, navy cloth and serial number plate.
