Earlier this month, from 5–10 November, Bookbinders Design Australia had the pleasure of hosting the Traveler’s Company Stamp Caravan to our Melbourne shop – and what a week it turned out to be!
For those who aren’t yet familiar, the Stamp Caravan is a special event by Traveler’s Company Japan, where a collection of limited-edition stamps and stickers make their way across the world, visiting Partner Shops in different cities. Each stop gives members of the Traveler's Notebook community a chance to experience a bit of the Traveler’s Factory spirit, to collect, create, and connect through journaling and art.
To celebrate the occasion, we paired the visiting international stamps with local creative energy, featuring three talented Melbourne artists: @zizicalligraphy, known for beautiful lettering; @pensilemili, who delighted us with super cute sketches; and @biteblock, a calligrapher and engraver whose work added a beautiful personal touch to notebooks and accessories.
They filled our small shop with lots of energy and inspiration. Throughout the event, guests lined up with their cherished Traveler’s notebooks, ready to collect the special limited-edition stamps and exclusive stickers prepared just for the Caravan. Many took the opportunity to personalise their notebooks even further, adding original illustrations and calligraphy by our featured artists.
People could chat with fellow stationery lovers and share stories of their own journeys and journals – a wonderful reminder of how the Traveler’s community connects people from all walks of life.
As part of the celebration, we also introduced two exciting new Traveler’s Company releases: the Traveler's Passport Stamp Caravan Insert, designed for collecting partner shop stamps from around the world (a permanent addition to the lineup), and the Red Sacoche Bag – the perfect thing for keeping your notebook close by while on the go. Both items were instant hits, and the good news is that you can still get them right here at Bookbinders Design.
We created a custom leather tag for the event, made right here at Bookbinders Design. Guests could choose their tag and have a Traveler’s symbol embossed into the leather on the spot!
The turnout was great and we were absolutely amazed (and a little overwhelmed, in the best way) by how many of you came through our doors. Seeing so many Traveler’s notebooks, each one unique and full of stories, was truly heartwarming. It reminded us why we love being part of this global community of makers and creatives.
